Fedora 18 Name Voting
Posted on Tuesday 24th April at 9:25pm UTCEligible Fedora contributors can now vote on the name for the next Fedora release, version 18. This time contributors are also being asked if versions should continue to have names as well as numbers.
More information can be found in the announcement. Our opinion is similar to that of many Fedora developers; that names are a waste of time!

Scientific Linux Forum Celebrates One Year

CentOS 5.8 Released

Oracle Linux 5.8 Released
Posted on Sunday 11th March at 4:20pm UTCLast Friday Oracle announced the release of Oracle Linux 5.8. This contains the same updates as upstream RHEL as well as some additional bug fixes by Oracle and driver updates for their Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel.

RHEL 4 EOL
Posted on Sunday 11th March at 4:15pm UTCA reminder that as of the 29th February, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 has reached its end of life. This also applies to distributions based on RHEL such as CentOS and Scientific Linux.
If you are still running RHEL 4 then migrating to a newer version should be a priority. Alternatively you can purchase Extended Update Support.

Fedora 17 Alpha Released

RHEL clones life cycles extended
Posted on Tuesday 28th February at 7:22pm UTCOracle and CentOS will now be supporting versions 5 and 6 of their distributions for ten years. This follows on from the announcement from Red Hat that the life cycle of RHEL would be extended to ten years.
